COB, which stands for "Chip on Board" in the LED industry, refers to a packaging technology where the LED chip is mounted directly onto a printed circuit board (PCB). In the context of flexible LED strip lights, such Chip-on-Board LEDs are also commonly known as flip-chips. 
Flip-chip LEDs represent a minimalist approach to LED design. Compared to a standard SMD (Surface Mount Device) LED—which houses the chip within a lamp bead holder sealed with a phosphor coating—the flip-chip structure used in COB strips eliminates all non-essential components. It retains only the LED chip itself, a yellow phosphor coating, and the electrical connection pads. 
What is COB LED Strip? 
  
COB stands for "Chip on Board," a technology where multiple LED chips are directly encapsulated onto a flexible PCB. In a COB LED strip, these chips—typically arranged in a linear flip-chip configuration—are mounted directly onto the board. A phosphor-containing encapsulation gel is then applied over the chips. As light emits from the chips, it undergoes refraction, reflection, and interaction with the phosphors, resulting in uniform light output in various colors and color temperatures. 
Thanks to this seamless construction, COB LED strips are also known as continuous or dotless LED strips, as they produce a smooth, uninterrupted line of light without visible individual points.

A: 1—Does the LED flexible filament need a heat sink? 
Answer: The LED filament does not need a radiator, and the LED uses current ≤10mA, and does not require heat dissipation. 
2—Can the LED flexible filament be lighted up with 18650 battery DC3.7V? 
Answer: No, our LED filament voltage is standard DC3V. 
If you use DC3.7V, the voltage is too high and the filament temperature is very high, which will burn out the lamp beads. 
3—Where is the LED flexible filament used? 
Answer: Generally used in light bulbs, DIY hand-made toys, DIY decoration design. 
4—Can the flexible LED filament be 90 degrees vertical? 
Answer: No. Maximum bending angle of LED filament≥30° 
5—Can the flexible LED filament be freely cut to length? 
Answer: No. If it is cut, it will not light up. 
6—Can the length of the LED flexible filament be customized according to customer requirements? 
Answer: No. All are fixed length, unless customized in large quantities (≥10,000 pieces) 
7—Can LED flexible filament work in water? 
Answer: No. But you can DIY by yourself and put a transparent plastic tube on the outside of the LED filament, and it can work in water.
